Season's Exhibit

Seasons of Life

Seasons in nature can awaken our senses to pleasure and delight or to dread and fear.  Regardless of our reaction to Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter, they will continue to repeat the cycle throughout our lives.  Similarly our life on earth has many seasons as we journey from birth to our senior years.

The artworks in this exhibit represent only a few of the impressionable times and people in my life.  “Ballerina’s Debut” was the first oil painting I did over four decades ago with my wonderful aunt and art teacher, Dorothy Stafford.  “Black Sands Beach” awakens a time of rediscovering nature through the eyes of a child.  “Alora and  Sunflowers” represents a beautiful Season of Joy that only our grandchild could bring.

And there was a season when I was so sad that my normal creativity lay dormant.  That is when I discovered poetry. Three of the artworks included have poems that were written to break the visual block that had consumed me.  Even though the subject of war, loss of youth and dying are overwhelming, sometimes it must be fully expressed to work through the grief.

Finally, the last artwork includes a butterfly that is half finished.   My drawing was interrupted when I was called to my father’s bedside to bid him farewell.  It is of sentimental value to be left as it was when he made his actual journey “Beyond the Seasons”.

May you be blessed by living your life to the fullest throughout the Seasons and looking forward to what lies Beyond!
